Christ
the King Lutheran Church
From Ted Torreson, Vicar

The other week, I had the privilege of
teaching our new member class, and in that session, I got to hear some pretty
great things about Christ the King. We were studying worship and I asked the
class what they noticed about how we go about worship. Nearly everyone spoke up
about how friendly our church was. One lady said, “When you come to worship
here, you can really feel the love.” Many others enthusiastically echoed that
comment, and so we celebrated together the joy and love we feel here at Christ
the King.
One reason I think people
feel so much love when they come to Christ the King is because we celebrate
Christ’s great love for us and we want others to feel that same love when they
come onto campus. I believe it is important that we never assume that we are
showing enough love, but always assume we could show more. I hope we never grow
tired of stretching and challenging ourselves to show Greater Love.
Some other great things
came up in our discussion as well. One man shared how thankful he was for our
web site. He said his faith walk wasn’t nearly as strong until he started
listening to past sermons periodically throughout the week. He was on fire with
passion for God because he was being fed and strengthened between Sundays. Then
many others joined in and shared in their appreciation for the web site as
well. Some even said they wouldn’t be able to get through their weeks without
being fed through our web site.
It is important that we stay
connected to God’s word throughout our week. It is where we grow and where we
find our strength. I was happy to see our newest members already strong in
these areas. When we grow if God’s word, it’s hard not to grow in love for one
another. When we are reminded about God’s great love for us, it’s easier to
tell others about it.
Blessings,
Vicar Ted
